Academic position

Jos de Keijser is a professor in psychology at the University of Groningen. https://www.rug.nl/about-ug/latest-news/press-information/scientists-in-focus/de-keijser-prof-jos. Since 2009, Jos is working at MSc Psychology PPO (Opleidingsinstituut PPO) and associate professor at GMW/RuG. De Keijser studied psychology at the University of Utrecht and advanced there in 1997.  His essay dealt with the guidance and treatment of grief. By the combination of his work in practice  and the university, he has been focusing on the treatment of complex grief in the last decades, especially focusing on loss by suicide or murder. He also engages in suicide prevention. Therefor he got the Ivonne van de Ven Award in 2007.

  • Working at Psychiatric Hospital Franeker since 1988, later merged into GGZ Friesland (1997). Working as psychotherapist and clinical psychologist, head of education until 2009. After that, part time working as clinical psychologist and psychotherapist and project leader ‘Voorkom Suicide’ at GGZ Friesland.
